PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 26, 2018) - The Regional Mobile Force Battalion-9 (RMFB-9) was adjudged as the over-all champion in the recently concluded 1st Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) competition held at Ipil, Sports Complex in Zamboanga Sibugay province Wednesday.

PRO-9 Chief PIO Chief Insp. Helen L. Galvez said the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) took home the Over-all 1st Runners–Up and Zamboanga Del Norte PPO emerged as the Over-all 2nd Runners-up. The Zamboanga Del Sur PPO bagged the Over-all 3rd Runners-up while the Zamboanga Sibugay PPO was awarded as the Over-all 4th Runners-up.    

The objective of the one-day CDM competition is to assess and test the readiness, equipage and capability of PRO-9 CDM units in dealing with and responding to mass actions and public disturbance requiring police response, Chief Insp. Galvez also said.  

In addition, it also aims to assess the degree and level of adequacy of preparation, effectiveness and swift response in addressing various civil disturbance situations in terms of support, negotiation, arrest, monitoring, SWAT, chemical, medical and fire protection, Chief Insp. Galvez added.   

The competing teams were rated by the CDM competition organizers from the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) during their showdown of inspection; presentation of different formations; and scenario solving. They were also graded and inspected through the completeness of CDM composition, equipment, uniforms and support elements, Chief Insp. Galvez said.

The Regional Mobile Force Battalion-9 (RMFB-9) CDM team will represent the PRO-9 in the annual PNP-CDM competition slated to be held this year.

PRO- 9 Awards PNP Personnel and Promotes Four Senior Officers


PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 23, 2018) - The Regional Director of Police Regional Office 9 Chief Supt. Billy B Beltran personally pinned PNP merit medals to the deserving PNP uniformed personnel for their exemplary performance and notable operational accomplishment during the Monday flag raising ceremony held at PRO9 Quadrangle, Camp Col. Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City today.

PRO-9 PIO Chief Police Chief Insp. Helen L. Galvez said that during the activity, PRO-9 Regional Director assisted the Regional Director for Administration PCSUPT Edwin S De Ocampo and PSSUPT Narciso B Verdadero, PRO-9 Deputy Regional Director for Operations in pinning the PNP merit medals to the deserving and performing uniformed personnel of PRO-9.

The awardees for Medalya ng Kagalingan are:
PSINSP Julius B Dao-an, PO3 Larry Balasabas, PO3 Adonis Atilano, PO1 Ivan Araneta and PO1 Al-jahad Hadjiri. Chief Insp. Galvez disclosed that the awardees were all members of Curuan Police Station, ZCPO. They were recognized for the neutralization of two lawless elements identified as Isabelo Tarroza, Alexander Delos Reyes and the arrest of other criminal gang identified as Nesser De Leon during law enforcement operation at Barangay Curuan and Barangay Lakiki, Zamboanga City on April 19, 2018 which also led to the recovery of Garand Rifle, KG9, Rifle Grenades and several magazines and ammos.

Also awarded, PSINSP Sonny Boy Perez, SPO1 Merkan Idris, PO3 Jayton Lagdameo, PO1 Khalid Faizal Barahim and PO1 Kenneth Glenn Jacoba, all members of Isabela City Police Station. They are responsible for the arrest of Abu Sayyaf Group member identified as Tanjil Alim Pangamdas charged for Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention during a law enforcement operation at Basilan General Hospital, Barangay Binuangan, Isabela City on April 10, 2018, Chief Insp. Galvez said.

PCINSP Oscar Buenaobra, PCINSP Norbert Velonza, PSINSP Felixberto Lelina, PINSP Marjan Sali and PINSP Alexander Raupan, all members of Police Regional Office 9. They were responsible for the neutralization of Anwar Ansang gun for hire group members identified as Suad Esmail, Top 2 most wanted person (municipal level) and Moamer Fermin, Top 7 most wanted person (provincial level) during sting operation against wanted person charged for “Multiple Murder, Attempted Murder and Frustrated Murder on April 20, 2018 at Sitio Balaisan, Barangay East Migpulao, Dinas, Zamboanga Del Sur which also resulted to the recovery of one M16 Rifle, magazines loaded with ammos, carbine rifle, 3 magazines of Carbine loaded with 51 live ammos, Chief Insp. Galvez also said.      

On the other hand, PCINSP Jade Mandi, PSINSP Nijam Salim, SPO2 Kemjie Edao, PO3 Dominic Dalena and PO1 Keymen Edao, all of Zamboanga Del Sur PPO, awarded for the arrest of two (2) gun for-hire personalities identified as Marcos Isong, Gilbert Bualat and Renato Fuentevilla, involved in contract assassinations in Zamboanga Del Sur.

PCSUPT Billy B Beltran, Regional Director congratulated the awardees for a job well done.

Meanwhile, PCSUPT Beltran administered the donning of ranks and oath taking of four newly promoted Police Superintendents of PRO-9. They are PSUPT Joseph Maulad of Zamboanga Del Norte PPO, PSUPT Edilberto Alvarez of Zamboanga City Police Office, PSUPT Edwin Verson of Zamboanga Sibugay PPO and PSUPT Homer Dumalag of Zamboanga Del Sur PPO. 2 suspects of kidnapping died and 2 others were arrested during the law enforce operation in Dinas, Zambo. Sur


DINAS, Zamboanga del Sur (April 20, 2018) – The two members of notorious lawless group died on the spot while two others were arrested during the law enforcement operation this morning at Sitio Balaisan, Barangay East Migpulao in this municipality.

The Law enforcement conducted by the joint operating forces of Dinas Municipal Police Station, Regional Special Operation Group, 902nd Mobile Force Battalion Company, 903rd Maritime PNP and Regional Intelligence Division.

Dinas MPS Chief of Police Senior Inspector Felixberto Rule Jr identified the 2 dead wanted persons as, 35, and Suad Abang Esmael, 32, both residents of the said place. The two arrested suspects were identified as Hadad Giapal Nanding, 23 years old, married and Mahadam Yunos Giapal, 28 years old, both a resident of said place, police official said.

Senior Inspector Rule disclosed that the two suspects dead and the two arrested were members of Anwar Ansang Group involved in kidnapping of Laarni Bandi in Zamboanga Sibugay province. The police operatives equipped with warrant of arrest during the law enforcement operation but the suspects resisting arrest that resulted to the firefight that caused the death of two wanted persons.

Senior Inspector Rule said that Fermin is listed as top seven most wanted person provincial level for murder with multiple frustrated murder and four counts of attempted murder while Esmael is considered as top two most wanted person in municipal level for the case of murder, attempted murder, and has standing warrant of arrest. They were also involved in extortion and gun for hire in the area, He added.

The operating troops recovered from the killed suspects Moamar Ansang Fermin one COLT M16 Rifle (with Serial Number 1489160), one long m16 magazine, four spent/empty 5.56 shells, five (5) 5.56 ammunitions and one (1) Nokia Cellular phone. Recovered from Suad Esmael were one (1) Carbine Rifle (bearing Serial Number 4330937), one long and two short magazines, fifty-one (51) ammunitions, and one Nokia cellular phone.

Recovered the two arrested suspects were one .45 caliber pistol Armscor (bearing Serial Number 357165), one short magazine, one ammunition and one holster.

The two other arrested suspects during the operation are now under the custody of Dinas MPS for proper disposition. (By Jong D. Cadion)

Zamboanga City Police Office Rules the 1st PRO-9 Taekwondo Meet


PAGADIAN CITY (April 10, 2018) - The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) Team Taekwondo grabs Five medals as it bagged the overall championship title in the just-concluded 1st PRO9 Taekwondo Meet held at PRO9 Multi-Purpose Hall, Camp Col. Romeo A Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City on April 6, 2018, Police Official said.

PRO9 PIO Chief Police Chief Inspector Helen L. Galvez disclosed that the ZCPO contingents was declared as the over-all team champion. They collected five medals - two gold’s, one silvers and two bronze medals throughout the one- day competition, which was participated by the different Provincial Offices, City Polices and the Regional Headquarters.

The Zamboanga Del Norte PPO bagged the 1st Place with four medals - two golds, one silver and one bronze medal while the Zamboanga Del Sur PPO placed 2nd after hauling three medals - one gold, one silver and one bronze, respectively, P/CInsp. Galvez said. 

P/CInsp. Galvez added that other big winners during the one-day prestigious taekwondo competition, for Flyweight category, gold medalist is PO3 Marc Aron E. Ejera of Zamboanga City Police Office, silver medalist is PO1 Jovin Layar of PRO9 Regional Headquarter.

Bantam Weight category gold medalist is PO1 Mahmud Asakil of ZCPO, silver medalist is PO1 Efren Benoy of Zamboanga Del Norte PPO.

Feather Weight category gold medalist is PO1 Rhomer Sumalpong of Zamboanga Del Norte PPO, silver medalist is PO1 Renji Narciso of Zamboanga Del Sur PPO.

Light Weight category gold medalist is PO1 Calixto T. Malalay of Zamboanga Del Sur PPO, silver medalist is PO1 Dios Rean Lozano of Zamboanga Sibugay PPO.

ZSPPO has new Provincial Director



PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 10, 2018) –The Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office conducted a turned-over of command this morning.

Outgoing Provincial Director of ZSPPO Police Senior Superintendent Alan Molintas Nazarro tendered arrival honor to visiting Deputy Regional Director for Administration Police Chief Superintendent Edwin Sadama De Ocampo at Camp Abelon Ground this city.

P/CSupt. De Ocampo administered the turnover of command of ZSPPO today. PD Nazarro relinquished his command to Police Senior Superintendent John Gano Guyguyon, his classmate in the Philippine National Police Academy Class 91. (By Jong Cadion)
