Lapuyan kidnapped victim release in Jolo, Sulu


PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (May 25, 2016) – The kidnap victim in nearby town of Lapuyan of this province was released by his abductors in Sulu province, Southern Philippines in the evening on May 17, 2016 after almost 2 months in captivity, police official said.

Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Michael Nicolas said the kidnap victim identified as Rian Tan Nuñez, 21 years old, male, Lapuyan of this province was already in his family after he was released by his captors.

In the police report said the victim was released at vicinity of Cawa-cawa Boulevard, Zamboanga City. He was received by his family in Zamboanga City.

The said kidnap victim were kept in Sulu at the lair of Abu Sayyaf Group Leader Alhabsy Misaya. The elder Tan was separated by their captors and they never saw each other again.

It was recalled that the kidnap victim together with his grandfather Antonio A. Tan was kidnapped last April of this year by the armed men in Lapuyan of this province and fled and boarded on a motorized bangka. (JDC)

Police augmentation forces deployed to Zambo Sur towns, city for poll duties

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, May 4 (PNA) -– The augmentation force sent by the Police Regional Office-9 (RPO-9) headquarters to render poll duties had been deployed to the 26 nearby municipalities and in this city.
 
The augmentation force, which consist of 234 personnel including nine officers, arrived late Tuesday at Camp Abelon in this city.

Senior Supt. Michael Nicolas, provincial police director, said they will augment the existing policemen in the different municipal and city police stations to ensure the peace and orderly conduct of the May 9 local and national elections. 

“Let us be a part of the history in implementing peaceful, honest, and credible elections,” Nicolas told the policemen during the send-off ceremony. 

Roger Gulay, provincial election officer, reminded them to be non-partisan while rendering election duties. 

The policemen assigned as augmentation force consist of officer personnel at the PRO-9 headquarters in Zamboanga City offices, new graduates of PNP Special Counter Insurgency Operation Unit Training (PNP SCOUT), and Field Training Program graduates. (PNA)
