PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur, Oct. 7 (PNA) -– Joint Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency
(PDEA) and police operatives have seized an estimated P2.5 million worth of
shabu and arrested three drug pushers in separate buy-bust operations in this
city and in the nearby town of Tukuran, an official announced Tuesday.
Provincial police
director Senior Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre identified the arrested suspects as
Albadar Abdul, 22, of Jolo, Sulu, and Odeng Bashir, 40, of Sapad, Lanao del
Norte and Hilal Bucay, 23, of Marawi City.
Ecaldre said Abdul
was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 5:30 p.m. Monday in Barangay Sta.
Lucia, this city.
The packs of shabu
were concealed inside an interior tube of a motorcycle wrap with plastic and
placed in a backpack being carried by the suspect.
Ecaldre said Bashir
and Bucay were arrested 20 minutes later in a separate buy-bust operation in
the nearby town of Tukuran, this province.
He said the arresting
officers have confiscated from the possession of the suspects six heat-seat
plastic packs of 279 grams of shabu, which were placed inside a gift pack.
He said the estimated
market value of the shabu confiscated in the two buy-bust operations is P2.5
million.
He said the suspects
were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them.
Gov. Antonio Cerilles
has commended the PDEA and policemen for their efforts that resulted to the
arrest of the suspects, who were believed to be among the big time drug pushers
in this province.
Cerilles earlier
ordered an intensified campaign as he declared war against prohibited drugs.
