Police seizes 10 assorted firearms and arrest 1 in Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 30, 2016) – The Police Provincial Office of this province has formally filed the case in court Saturday morning against the arrested suspect in Bayog for the violating the Republic Act 10591 or otherwise known as “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act”.

The joint police operatives of Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB), Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Public Safety Company (ZDS-PPSC), and Bayog Municipal Police Station (MPS) led by SUPT Glenn M. Dulawan, Deputy Provincial Director for Operation were successfully seized 10 assorted firearms and arrested 1 suspect during the conduct of operations in Bayog town of this province Friday morning.

Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Michael Nicolas said the operation was in line with their One Time Big Time (OTBT) Lambat-Sibat Operation and the implementation of COMELEC Gun Ban.

SSupt. Nicolas identified the arrested person as Romeo Malayo y Serote for violating the Republic Act 10591 known as “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act” following the implementation of Search Warrant No. 360 issued by the Municipal Trial Court and Cities (MTCC) Branch 01, Pagadian City.

SSupt. Nicolas said the joint police operatives confiscated 1 unit homemade long barrel 12 gauge shotgun (without serial number with 1 magazine); 1 unit homemade long barrel single shot M-16 (without serial number with 1 magazine inserted); 1 unit caliber .45 pistol Colt MK IV series 80 with serial number 624183 with 1 magazine inserted; and assorted live ammunition of M-16, caliber.357 and caliber .38.

 

SSupt. Nicolas disclosed that the police operatives simultaneously conducted OPLAN GALUGAD to all Civilian Volunteers Organizations (CVOs) in cooperation with the Local Government Units (LGUs) in barangay Depore of the said municipality which resulted to the surrender of 7 units of homemade shotguns with 3 magazines and 7 live ammunition.

SSupt. Nicolas said the arrested person is now detained at Bayog MPS while a case for the violation of Republic Act 10591 has been filed in court. (by Jong D. Cadion)

Political war wounded 3 in Midsalip Zamboanga del Sur

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 29, 2016) – The Police is now conducting the thorough investigation on the shooting incident in Purok 4, Barangay Guma, Midsalip in this Province resulted the wounded of  3 person Wednesday morning.

Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Michael Nicolas disclosed that the motive behind the incident is an election related after both political warring parties has filed a case after the shooting incident.

SSupt Nicolas said that based in their initial investigation conducted disclosed that while Barangay Captain Eduardo Selim, Barangay chairman of  Bgry. Matalang, Midsalip, supporter of the incumbent Mayor Liwaya Angcap-Paras on board with his Yamaha DT coming from Brgy. Poblacion B going to Brgy. Guma of the said town and upon reaching at the place of incident near at mayor’s Angcap house the suspect identified as Michael Umban, supporters of Mayoral Candidate Condrado Lumacad also on board with a Honda XR 200 overtake and shot the Brgy. Chairman using caliber 45 pistol and fled with his driven motorcycle after the commission of the crime but was crashed into a banana plant more or less 50 meters away from the crime scene and escaped on foot towards unknown direction. Luckily, Brgy Chairman Selim was not hit by the bullet. However, a stray bullet hit 3 bystanders in the area.

SSUPT Nicolas said that Midsalip now is included in the watch list in the COMELEC as area of concern after the incident.

Police identified the 3 wounded person as Leonida Ganar, alleged supporter of Mayor Angcap, 50 year old a resident of Brgy. Golictop, Midsalip  was hit at the back portion of her body; Junieza May Dumaog, 12 years old a resident of Tuluan, Midsalip was hit at right portion of her thigh and Mario Diosmano alleged supporter of Mayor candidate Lumacad 60 years old a resident of Tuluan, Midsalip was hit at his foot sole, all victims were brought to the nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Responding Policemen recovered from the crime scene 7 empty shells of caliber 45 and one unit motorcycle and were brought to the Police Station for proper disposition and investigation. (By Jong Cadion)
